While at Ulta I saw this awesome set by Smashbox. The Smashbox Limitless Beauty Collection. You get 5 eye shadows (in a palette w/ a brush), a blush, a lipgloss, an eye liner, and the Photo Finish Foundation Primer (mini) all for only $39 USD plus tax. It's a retail value of $115, so I'd say it's indisputably a great deal.
This IS a great deal. However I wasn't a huge fan of the palette or the gloss. First, lets talk about what I did like.
The blush, Everlasting, is GORGEOUS. I love the color. It was nicely pigmented, went on smoothly and wore well. It's also a universally flattering shade.
The eyeliner is perfection. JAVA, a deep brown that glides on and stays on well. My eyes have been watering all day with these horrid allergies and I haven't had to reapply.
Another nice feature is the pamphlet that comes with it that tells you what to do and how/wear to apply.
What I didn't like. It's no secret (because I've mentioned it before) that I don't like the Smashbox Primer. I put it on and I can still feel it on. That rocks my OCD, which is no bueno. However, this is considered a cult item, and many people DO love it.
The Palette has 5 beautiful colors. On me, they did NOT wear well together. They are very soft, and I liked wearing them separately. But all together... eek. I was muddy and late to take my son to camp because I had to wipe it off twice before I said screw it and just used one shade.
The gloss, Round-The-Clock, adds really no color to the lips (even though it's beautiful swatched) and is STICKY as all get out. This is likely the stickiest gloss I've ever used. I LOVE the applicator though. It's an angled doe foot and perfect for application purposes.
I don't have a ton of experience with Smashbox products, so I can't compare the products to regular items from the core line. I do think this set is worth the money if you don't have anything like it. However, if you already own things like the Urban Decay Naked Palette or a similar blush, I would steer clear.
Has anyone else tried this set out? It seems to have gotten good reviews on the Ulta website. I'm sad it didn't work for me. Smashbox is a brand I've been interested in trying for awhile now.
