Orly ANDROGYNIE and OUI Nail Polish Swatches and Review - Holiday 2011

It almost seems like Orly Androgynie disappeared as soon as it was released.  Like a phantom polish.  I searched Sally's every few days, and checked Ulta a few times... no dice.  Finally, I hit the Sally's by my moms house (always a good place) and scored big.  It was there that the sales girl told me that Androgynie was included in a gift set!  It was a minis set, but let's be honest, it's not like I ever use a full bottle of polish.

In a cute little candy cane tube, reminiscent of the ones that hold tiny candies, were three adorable Orly mini's - Androgynie, Oui, and Ma Cherie.    I passed Ma Cherie off to my mom (who is IN LOVE with it and insists it's the best polish she's ever owned) because I didn't want another red (blasphemy, I know) and I was really only after Androgynie.

For this post I'd like to swatch and review Orly Androgynie and Oui Nail Lacquer from the 2011 Holiday Soiree Collection.

I have always loved mini bottles of polish.  It both money saving and space saving, and you can't tell me those little pretties aren't adorable!  Orly's are nice too because they're actually labeled!  A lot of minis aren't and you just have to guess.  Though, unfortunately, I've hardly handled Androgynie and the name rubbed off.  Boo.

Androgynie

Androgynie really speaks for itself.  It's an out of this world, cosmic polish.  The base is black and it's set with small and large hex glitters.  I used three coats, but I could have gotten away with 2.  I just wanted more of the glitters on there lol You really need to grab this one if you can, I am in LOVE and LUST.

Oui

Oui is a shade that flashes both purple and gold.  This foily polish appears to have a purple base with a massive amount of gold particles laced throughout.  I needed 3 full coats for the swatch photo above.  It reminds me of a polish that a Sugar Plum Fairy would wear, gorgeous!

Orly Nail Polish retails around $6 for a full size bottle, this particular set of mini's I grabbed was only $9.99 for all three and the plastic candy cane (which I threw out).  I imagine, since they've been out awhile, that you might even be able to get these on sale.  Check your local Sallys and Ulta for availability.  I still see Oui quite a bit, but Androgynie is gone in this area.

Orly FOWL PLAY vs OPI MERRY MIDNIGHT Nail Polish Comparison Swatches, Review and Photos

I've heard a lot around the nail community about Orly Fowl Play possibly being a dupe for last years sought after OPI Merry Midnight.

I hadn't seen too much by way of comparison, but a search I just did shows that a few bloggers have tested this and found slight differences.

Since I found a lone bottle of Orly Fowl Play during my most recent trip to Ulta, I snatched it up since I knew I had OPI Merry Midnight at home. I don't normally do nail polish comparisons, but thought this one would be fun for a change.

Please keep in mind these are just my opinions on how the two polishes compare. I'm by no means an expert, this is just to maybe help those out who are looking for either polish or are trying to decide if they need both. Please click the pictures to enlarge them, if needed.

Pointer and Ring Finger are OPI Merry Midnight; Pinkie and Middle finger are Orly Fowl Play

It is my personal opinion that OPI Merry Midnight has a lighter base than Orly Fowl Play. The shimmers seem the same, but I believe the Orly to be more dense. I actually prefer the Orly over the OPI. For reference, I did 3 coats of each polish.

The original price of OPI Merry Midnight was $8.50, but it's going high on eBay. Seriously, in the completed listings one sold for $37.00. Orly Fowl Play is not a complete spot on dupe, but it might help your lemming a bit. Especially since it's only $7.00.

Orly Fowl Play is now available at Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply.

Orly ROCK SOLID Nail Polish Swatches & Review - Mineral FX

This polish had me so stressed out. I haven't had such a severe lemming for a nail polish in a LONG time. Rock Solid is part of the new Orly release entitled Mineral FX. This is the one that I've been hearing is exceedingly hard to find, so if you like the look of this polish, I would find it and buy it stat. And get a back up in case your best friend wants it too. Cause she will.

Rock Solid
is PACKED with just the right amount of holo glitter over top of a deep blackened grey base. The polish went on nicely and evenly. It's much more pigmented and easy to work with than I expected. I used 3 coats for the swatch photo and am drooling all over myself. (click the pics to enlarge so I'm not alone with the drooling thing).

Emberstone is probably the only other polish I would like from this collection. The rest, based off of swatches, I feel like I've seen over and over again. Rock Solid and Emberstone are the only 2 that I feel warrant the higher price tag of this collection.

The Orly Mineral FX Collection retails for $10 each and can be found at Sally Beauty Supply and Ulta. (FYI, currently at Sally's they are $7.99, but IDK how long that will last).

Orly ROYAL VELVET Nail Polish Swatches and Review

Still weeding my way through my Kayla Shevonne 500 Follower Giveaway winnings I bring you Orly Royal Velvet. I decided to bust out an Orly to swatch because I have been on the hunt for the new Orly FX Mineral Rock Solid and can't find it ... grrrrr ... Hopefully this will bring me good karmas!

Royal Velvet is the shade of a glamorous bruise... if bruises could ever actually BE glamorous. This blue/purple duochrome shimmers and shines. The shade is interesting and dynamic. Three coats will give you full opacity.

Orly Nail Polishes retail around $7.50... more or less depending on the place you buy from (I tend to go to Sally Beauty Supply or Ulta for these) and the collection (the FX polishes are always more).

Swatches ~ Orly Space Cadet & Orly Galaxy Girl

(pics are clickable for full size viewing - seriously, this is one time you WANT to click the pics!!!!)

FINALLY!!!! My Orly's!!!!!

Arriving today was my smallish nail polish (poet and didn't know it hah) order. I haven't done a np order in a long time. Mostly because nothing really has called to me lately.

The new line from Orly, Cosmix (Cosmic FX), has piqued my interest since the bloggers that got samples have been posting their swatches. It was imperitive that I pick up two of the polishes early from an online retailer. Galaxy Girl (Purple with blue green FX) and Space Cadet (Green with purple gold FX).

I seriously can't even begin to describe these colors to you. No photo in the world can capture how unbelievably amazing these polishes are. The effect of the color mix in these polishes is impossible to describe, and my photos don't do them justice.

GALAXY GIRL
Shown here with 3 coats of polish and a top coat of Seche Vite.

SPACE CADET
Shown here with 4 coats of polish (normally I always do 3, but it was so pretty I kept painting lol ooppsssss) and a top coat of Seche Vite.

You can really tell from the pics of the bottles the different dimensions of color that these possess. Very unique!

After I finish my swatching for the day I'm totally putting Space Cadet back on for the long haul. There's a reason it's been numero uno!! The rest of the collection is definately top of my NP wish list.

Get these while you can! The collection is LIMITED EDITION. I usually pick up my Orly np from Sally Beauty Supply but I believe you can also get them at Ulta and of course at orlybeauty.com starting on September 1. These ones are a bit more expensive and retail for $10.

Orly is new to Twitter and Facebook... click the links to follow them there!

It's a HAUL of a day!

WOW. I can't even begin to think about where to start.
I got an amazing nail polish haul in the mail today. I'm talking 20+ polishes people!
I received an AMAZING package from a raffle I won on Swap Tawk. There are a couple polishes in there that are SURE to be HG and I can Franken and play around with whatever I don't like...
I also received my order from aveyou.com. Holy fast shipping! They fullfilled some MAJOR lemmings for me. I picked up OPI DS Glamour, OPI Melody In Mocha, and OPI Concerto in Copper. I could not find these ANYWHERE (other than evil-bay)... so to see them on there AND get them at discount?! I almost fell over. Become a fan of them on facebook and you get $10 off ANY order. You can use this multiple times... I did! They'll also send you another coupon for 15% off in your order.

A swap also arrived today containing OPI DS Signature (can you tell I am in love with the designer series?!) and Lippmann Superstar (which was the only one I wanted from the Nordies set).

Here are some pics for your enjoyment... I'll post NOTD pics with these soon. I haven't changed my mani yet because the Orly Mirror, Mirror is staying on GREAT. Better than any polish yet for me!! As a mom, my hands are ALWAYS in water, so for this to be holding on so well... thats 2 thumbs up from me.

Mirror, Mirror On The Wall Part Deux

This polish is so dreamy and creamy it made me WANT to Konad it up! I got out my new Konad plate and my new black polish (PSA black Konad polish is MESSY and STAINS) and got to adding the butterflies. Love it. Getting much better at stamping. Practice makes perfect!!!

Mirror, Mirror On The Wall... Why Won't My Son Sleep In?!

Today I received my second order from VNS. It was the Orly Once Upon A Time set and China Glaze Moody Blue. I decided to put Poison Apple on my toes (do you know this was good in ONE coat?! I almost fell over. I did 2 for good measure though) and Mirror, Mirror on my fingers.
I won't gross you out with a foot pic (some people just don't like the feets!) but promise to put Poison Apple on my tips at some point.
Here is Mirror, Mirror - 2 coats, 1 flash ;) Please excuse my red thumb, there was a mishap with Poison Apple on my big toe lol

Photobucket

I didn't like this after I did my left hand, but as I finished up the right hand it grew on me. I may leave it on! I contemplated taking it off right after the pic... but seriously... it's nice!

On another note. We bed trained my oldest on Friday. He's doing SO well. Last night was a test, though I know people have gone through worse. DH was in the basement installing a toilet in our new bathroom and was having issues... making all kinds of noise... so DS went to bed late. As did I since I wasn't about to go to bed when all of that racket was BOUND to wake up both kiddoes. DS went down around 10 or 1030, me at 1230. DD up at 2. DS up at 230. DD up at 6. DS up at 630. He refused to go back to sleep. I probably should have pushed the issue of sleeping in more with him, but wasn't in the mood. Do you know he's still going strong and its almost 3pm?! I tried to get him to nap. I got about 30 min in and so did DD. DS just laid in bed and played. At least he was good. I don't get how kids are ready and raring to go with little or NO sleep?! What are these children on?! Gimme whatever they're taking!

Kon-ADDICT

Last week I did my first ever Konad order from OCNailArt.com. When the order arrived I'll have to admit I let it sit around for a bit, as I was nervous to try it out.
Put your worries aside ladies! Not only is Konad EASY, it's FUN! It's super quick too, so I didn't have to worry about "little hands" messing up the manicure.

Last night I did a my mani in Orly Enchanted Forest (my first dark green.. heaven. I ordered the rest of the collection today).
Photobucket
Today, I added a bit of Konad Nail Art! I did mess up a few nails, so make sure when you first try it you're not going anywhere special. Basically, you have to be QUICK. No distractions. The middle nail in the pic below was the last nail I did and turned out the best.
Photobucket

I plan on trying this again tomorrow. I'll definately post the results again. I'm going to be addicted to Konad. That is for sure!
