Bobbi Brown CAVIAR INK Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner Swatches and Review

Hands down, my favorite product from Bobbi Brown is the Long-Wear Gel Eye Liners.  I remember my first purchase of them years ago of Ivy Shimmer Ink and Black Mauve Shimmer Ink.  If you've been around for a few months, you may remember my review of the Caviar/Gold Dual Ended Eye Liner.  A product I loved, but that I didn't have a good reaction to as a contact lens wearer.  Determined to find a similar shade to the Caviar side of the Dual Ended Liner I turned to the Caviar Ink Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner.

What Sephora has to say about Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner:
What it is:
A best-selling, award-winning formula that makes lining your eyes like a pro easy.

What it does:
Get the precision of a liquid liner with the ease of a gel-based formula. The eyeliner glides on smoothly and precisely, then quickly dries down to a long-wearing, water-resistant finish.

What else you need to know:
Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner is an Allure Best of Beauty Award Winner.
Size: 0.1 oz

Caviar Ink (deep black-brown) is a muted black, and not exactly the color I was looking for.  Caviar the pencil was also described as a deep black-brown, but had more of a taupe grey aspect to it's color.

That being said, this is a great liner for every day.  You can pair it with just about everything and its formula is up to par with what I remember my other two Long-Wear Gel Eyeliners from years ago being.  It's headed into my daily makeup routine arsenal, and there it shall stay.

All-in-all, still a win, but not a home run.  I will find you, perfect shade! *shakes fist*

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliners retail for $21 at Sephora, and $22 everywhere else for some reason.

Bobbi Brown CHOCOLATE/BRONZE Dual Ended Eye Liner Swatches and Review

New for Winter 2011, Bobbi Brown has released a trio of Dual Ended Eye Liners sure to make your eyes pop festively for any occasion!  I have been interested in testing these out since I saw them on another blog, so during the Sephora VIB sale I got my hands on two of them.  Today I'll be showing the Chocolate/Bronze Dual Ended Eye Liner.  (I also reviewed Caviar/Gold).

From the Sephora website

What it is:
A long-lasting liner in two colors that brighten and define the eye.

What it does:
This unique combination of soft waxes and oils, plus a high concentration of pigments, provides silky smooth application.
Size: 0.02 oz

 Chocolate

 Bronze

 (Chocolate, Bronze)

Chocolate/Bronze (dark brown/ bronze sheen) is perfect for the neutral eye lover.  I am wearing it above with Chanel Beige Lame Eye Shadow.  The Bronze is a beautiful compliment to Chocolate so it can be worn day or night.

The formula is awesome on  these.  They do not budge.  I wore this liner ALL day long and had a difficult time taking it off in the evening.  They are incredibly soft and glide on.  Watch pressing too hard, as they can break easily, and the price point being what it is for such a small liner, you don't want to have to waste ANY of it.

Now, for contact lens wearers.  These liners were highly irritating to my eyes.  At first I thought it was just the Bronze part since it has the shimmers in it, but even when worn alone, Chocolate irritated my eyes.  I like to waterline on the bottom, and these DO waterline easily, but that has to be what is causing the irritation.  I have no issue with these when I only use the liner on top.  If you don't wear contacts, you probably won't have a problem.  As soon as I pop my contacts out and put my glasses on, all is well.

Unfortunately, the Bobbi Brown Dual Ended Eye Liners are limited edition.  They retail for $24 each, which is steep considering you don't get much product.  You can pick them up at Sephora, or your local Bobbi Brown counter at department stores such as Nordstom and Neiman Marcus.

My wish?  The company makes these perm, lowers the price, and makes them more contact lens wearer friendly =( I love them SO much but can't justify the price because of the irritation factor.

Have you tried these new liners from Bobbi Brown?  What do you think?  Have they irritated your eyes at all?  Any tips?

Bobbi Brown CAVIAR/GOLD Dual Ended Eye Liner Swatches and Review

Caviar

 Gold

(Caviar, Gold)

Caviar/Gold (deep black brown/ metallic gold) is perfection in every way imaginable.  Caviar is a shade I've been searching for for a long time.  I always think I find it, and it's off somehow.  It's a greyed brown, dark taupe color that would probably look best with blue or green eyes, but that I think looks phenomenal with brown eyes (like mine!) as well ;)  The Gold side provides a slight, festive pop of color to the darkness of Caviar, or can be worn alone if you're going for understated glam.

The formula is awesome on  these.  They do not budge.  I wore this liner ALL day long and had a difficult time taking it off in the evening.  They are incredibly soft and glide on.  Watch pressing too hard, as  they can break easily (I had that happen with the other one I bought) and the price point being what it is for such a small liner, you don't want to have to waste ANY of it.

Now, for contact lens wearers.  These liners were highly irritating to my eyes.  At first I thought it was just the Gold part since it has the shimmers in it, but even when worn alone, Caviar irritated my eyes.

FOTD Featuring Magic Lash & Bobbi Brown Bronze Tortoise Shell Eye Palette

I was pretty underwhelmed with the Bobbi Brown Bronze Tortoise Shell Eye Palette... I tried a few different looks, this is just the one I liked the best. It definitely looks a lot prettier in pictures lol but if the shades ARE what you're specifically looking for, it is a great price.

For This Look I Used:
~ MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer NW25
~ Dior Hydra Life Pro-Youth Skin Tint SPF 20 - 1 Cream
~ Lancome Dual Finish Powder Matte Bisque II
~ Dior DiorShow Brow Styler
~ MAC Brow Set - Clear
~ Magic Lash Eyelash Enhancer
~ Black Magic Mascara
~ Too Faced Shadow Insurance
~ Bobbi Brown Bronze Tortoise Shell Eye palette (specifically the brown, using the darkest brown as a liner)
~ Milani Baked Powder Blush in Terra Sole
~ Wet N Wild MegaSlicks Lip Gloss in Berry Burst

Bobbi Brown BRONZE Tortoise Shell Eye Palette Swatches & Review

For Fall 2011, Bobbi Brown released 2 beautiful palettes - the Sand Tortoise Shell Eye Palette, and the Bronze Tortoise Shell Eye Palette - which is what we're reviewing today.

From the Neiman Marcus website:
A flattering collection of warm neutral makeup for medium to darker skin tones, this palette lets you go from soft to smoky in no time flat.

The eight shadows in the Bronze Tortoise Shell Eye Palette are designed to be layered—there's no blending required. Tortoise shell glasses inspire the special limited edition compact—Bobbi's muse for this collection.

Palette Includes:

Banana eye shadow (buttery cream).
Gold Nugget Sparkle eye shadow (yellow gold).
Amber Shimmer Wash eye shadow (pink bronze).
Copper Cocoa Shimmer Wash eye shadow (chocolate brown).
Tiger's Eye Metallic eye shadow (golden copper).
Bronze Metallic eye shadow (true bronze).
Olive Sparkle eye shadow (golden green).
Espresso eye shadow (dark chocolate brown).

Start with the lightest shade, then layer the darker shades until you get the desired intensity.

I found the Bronze Tortoise Shell Eye Palette to be rather sheer. Pigment comes across ok on the swatches, but it didn't transfer so nicely to the lid. The shades of the palette are more dynamic if you apply a base color, such as Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Metallic Cream Shadow or a MAC Paint Pot. I'm only NW25 and for this to be geared towards medium to dark skin tones... well it makes me believe you'll have a hard time pulling the pigment you'd need if you're darker.

They say to layer the shades, but Le Metier de Beaute always stresses to layer their shades, and the pigment of their shadows alone is out of this world.

That being said, you DO get 8 shades for $60. The compact is pretty and has a mirror inside, which is always a plus. It breaks down to be a pretty sweet deal, and nice for travel as well.

I do have a FOTD with this palette coming up, it will post sometime this week.

The Bobbi Brown Bronze Tortoise Shell Eye Palette retails for $60 and is Limited Edition. You can purchase this palette by heading over to your local Bobbi Brown counter, or visiting BobbiBrown.com, Nordstrom.com, NeimanMarcus.com, or BergdorfGoodman.com.

Bobbi Brown CRYSTAL Lip Gloss Swatches & Review

With my recent Bobbi Brown order from Neiman Marcus I got a gift with purchase, which was the mini size Bobbi Brown Crystal Lip Gloss. Just a clear gloss, but in case anyone was interested in the product I thought it'd be useful to do a quick review! I didn't do any arm or lip swatches for this post, because it is clear, and I think you all know what that will swatch like ;)

From the Bobbi Brown website:
This clear, high-shine Lip Gloss is the easiest way to instantly enhance lips. Wear alone for a naturally luscious look or layer over your favorite Lip Color and Lip Liner for added brilliance. Comes in an easy-squeeze tube that makes it ideal for home-or on-the-go.

This product reviewed extremely well on the website. I personally did not like it. It is extremely sticky, more-so than the MAC Clear gloss. I think it becomes more sticky feeling after you try a gloss like Le Metier de Beaute which has NO stick... you become used to that... so when you try another gloss the sticky is just unbearable.

Crystal is extremely thick, so it does last, but not past eating or drinking. It doesn't have a raunchy taste or smell.. just plain.

If you don't mind the sticky feeling, then Crystal will be nice for you. It has a high shine and isn't CRAZY expensive. I'm willing to pay a bit more to hide from stick.

Bobbi Brown Crystal Lip Gloss retails for $17 (full size) and is available at BobbiBrown.com, Sephora, and counters nationwide (such as at Nordstrom). Call to check for availability.

Bobbi Brown BARE PINK (9) Rich Lip Color SPF 12

Recently Bobbi Brown released a new line of lipsticks - the Rich Lip Color SPF 12.

From the Bobbi Brown Website:
Bright, get-noticed color. Introducing Rich Lip Color SPF 12. Lightweight, yet intense, Bobbi’s latest formula combines pigments with a clear base to deliver pure, crisp color with just one swipe. Plus, it’s creamy and moisturizing, so lips feel as good as they look. Available in 13 beautifully wearable shades.

For this review, I chose the shade Bare Pink.

I chose Bare Pink because I'm a neutral lovin' gal and thought I would use this shade the most. Plus I didn't need any more coral colors... oy.

I found Bare Pink to be extremely creamy, rich, and smooth. It applied well and evenly. The wear was that of any lipstick... a few hours and wore off with eating and drinking. I loved the feel of this lipstick, it was moisturizing and I didn't feel like I needed to apply a lipgloss over it. This item is definitely something I'd repurchase in the same shade as well as in other shades.

Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color SPF 12 is available at any department store with a Bobbi Brown counter, Sephora.com and BobbiBrown.com.

Bobbi Brown Antique Gold Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow

Several replies in the Easter Giveaway stated that they wanted to see some Bobbi Brown on this site. That made me realize... wow I have NO Bobbi Brown on here! Sorry, Bobbi!

I do LOVE Bobbi Brown Shimmer Inks. Bobbi has the best gel eye liners I've ever used. I definately plan on doing a post regarding those SOON.

Today's post is about the Bobbi Brown Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow, particularly in the shade of Antique Gold.

The shade is beyond gorgeous. A khaki brown/gold with loads of multi-shimmer. Everyone will describe this differently. Everyone will AGREE that it's gorgeous and easy to use. It's smooth and easy to blend on the eye. Antique Gold still needs UDPP underneath to make it stick (what doesn't?) but it makes a great base for just about any shade you can think of.

Antique Gold was sort of a pain to photograph, but the pic above is the closest to the actual swatch color that I got.

Some packaging pics:

Bobbi Brown Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadows retail for $22 and are available at most high end department stores, as well as sephora.com and bobbibrown.com.
