For Holiday 2011, OPI has paired up with the Muppets to bring you a 12 piece collection of Muppet inspired polishes. I'm loving everything about this collection... the colors... the theme... Miss Piggy herself would be proud!
Top Row L-R: Designer...De Better, Warm & Fozzie, Animal-istic, Wocka Wocka!, Meep-Meep-Meep, Pepes Purple Passion
Bottom Row L-R: Excuse Moi!, Gettin' Miss Piggy With It, Fresh Frog of Bel Air, Gone Gonzo, Divine Swine, Rainbow Connection
L-R: Animal-istic, Designer...De Better, Divine Swine, Excuse Moi!,
Fresh Frog of Bel Air, Gone Gonzo
Animal-istic
indoors, with flash
outdoors, no flash
Animal-istic is a really fierce shimmery red. The second set of swatches are done outside with no flash. It was pretty overcast, but that shot is more true to the color. This was 3 coats, but I think it would have been ok in two.
Designer...De Better
Designer...De Better is a show stopping platinum foil with copper flecks. The shade was very interesting and went on easily with 3 coats.
Divine Swine
Divine Swine is a mix of large silver hex glitter and smaller purple glitters with a sheer base. The above swatch was 3 coats of color, so this is definitely more of a layering polish.
Excuse Moi!
Excuse Moi! really surprised me. I wasn't excited for it in the bottle, but on the nail it is very pretty! It has a nice pink base with a party of multi-colored glitters. I needed 3 coats for this one.
Fresh Frog of Bel Air
Fresh Frog of Bel Air is a mix of small green glitters and large silver hex glitter over a sheer base. I feel the same about this as I did Divine Swine. Not so great alone, but would be nice for layering. 3 coats was used in the photo.
Gone Gonzo
Gone Gonzo was ALMOST perfect. Large silver hex glitter over top of a lot of small er bright blue glitters and a clear base. The three coats used ALMOST made it opaque. I saw this layered on another blog and it was done beautifully, though now (of course) I can't find the post.
Gettin' Miss Piggy With It
Gettin' Miss Piggy With It is a spattering of small red glitters mixed with larger silver and red hex glitters over a clear base. This one is so love in the bottle but I'm not liking on the nail. It needs layered for sure (and will look awesome when done so) as the swatch photo is THREE coats and that's all you get.
Meep-Meep-Meep
Meep-Meep-Meep is a fuchsia shimmer. I'm not usually a fan of fuchsia. Basically because I'm sick of it lol but this shade is actually really flashy and shimmery and the mini flakes almost make it look foily, drawing me to it even though my mind says no.
Pepes Purple Passion
Indoors, with flash
Outside, no flash
Pepes Purple Passion is my second fave from this whole collection. I love the merlot raisin base with the smallish gold and red glitter struggling to shine through. It was hard to capture the shimmer of this polish, so I took a few pics both indoors and outdoors so you could see how it looked in both. This was two coats.
Rainbow Connection
Rainbow Connection was interesting in that it would be beautiful for layering, but looks beautiful even on it's own. I used 3 coats for the photos above and couldn't even tell bare nail was peeking through until I saw the pictures. With it's random sized multi-colored hex glitters, it's like New Years confetti got stuck to my nails after a huge celebration!
Warm & Fozzie
Warm & Fozzie was my fave from this collection. It's a brown base with lots of bronze, pink and gold glitters. The first two pics show just the color in 3 coats, where the second two pics show Warm & Fozzie used with Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure as a top coat. As I looked at the polish it was just BEGGING for this top coat. It totally enhanced the color and looked really cool. I'm sad the sun wasn't peeking out more to really show off how awesome this looked.
Wocka Wocka
Wocka Wocka is a pinked red with no shimmer. This would be awesome layered with Gettin Miss Piggy With It. I only needed 2 coats with this one.
Overall, I am loving this collection, but my only complaint is (as usual) I wish the sheerer glitters were more opaque. I really love me some opaque glitter.
Comparison posts are forthcoming ;) In the comments, let me know if there are any you'd like to see. If I have both polishes in my stash or can easily pick up the alleged "twin" I will do a comparison!
