MAC Aurora, Circa Plum, and Nebula Pigment Swatches, Review and FOTD - Daphne Guinness

MAC was no slouch in the Pigment department for the Daphne Guinness Collection.  This collection only carried three pigments (two new - Aurora and Nebula, one repromote - Circa Plum), but they're all stellar and pair well together.  These pigments would also be a great way to amp up the quad from this collection, Interior Life, which hasn't gotten the best reviews for ease of use and pigmentation.

Pigments are all about Pigmentation, ease of use, and blendability.  So lets see how Aurora, Circa Plum, and Nebula held up.  Swatches were done dry, with no primer underneath.

What the MAC Website has to say about Pigments:
Pigment is a highly concentrated loose colour powder that contains ingredients to help it adhere to the skin. Create a subtle wash of colour or an intense effect.  Does not streak or cake.  Easy to blend and long-lasting.  Please note: Pigments are sold by weight not volume.  Containers can appear to be less than full due to settling of the product.  4.5 g / 0.15 US oz

Aurora (pinked taupe) swatches and wears rather frosty, but it's wonderfully beautiful.  It's what I wanted tan pigment to be.  Tan without the brassiness.  Sublime.

Circa Plum (frosty dirty mid-tone lavender) we remember from the collections A Rose Romance and Colour Forms.  It seems the same to me now as it was then.  A very pretty and cool purple.

Nebula (dark greyed brown with pearl) is quite possibly my favorite pigment since Coco Beach.  It's very deep and you need very little product to cover the area.

Pigment on all of these is great, even when swatched dry (like above).  I experienced no fall out with these pigments.  I was using firm brushes and was being careful, but I was still impressed, especially because Nebula is so dark and seemed a little more dry in the bottle than the other two.

As you can see from the bottle photos, the fullness amount differs.  MAC fills these up based on weight.  It may look like you're getting cheated and someone was doing some sampling, but you're getting the same amount as anyone else is, theirs just may have settled in less.

Pigment use tips - always use a firm brush when applying.  This will help prevent fall out and help to pack the color on.  Also, after you dip your brush into the product, tap off the excess or you'll not only have a mess on your hands, but you'll waste product.  If you use pigments wet, it will really amp up the color.  If you're going for the wow factor, this is an easy way to do it!!

For this FOTD I used:
~ Lancome Dual Finish Powder Matte Bisque II
~ Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation in BR42
~ Dior DiorShow Brow Styler
~ MAC Brow Set - Clear
~ MAC Azalea Blossom Blush Ombre
~ MAC Approaching Storm Pro Longwear Lipcreme
~ MAC Borealis Cremesheen Glass

(really matches that orange shirt, right?!  doh)

For the eyes, I applied UDPP as my base and worked Nebula into the crease with the 219 brush.  Using a 239 brush I patted Aurora all over the lid and also used it to highlight.  I took a bit more Nebula on a 226 brush to blend it out and add to the outer V.  I patted a bit of Circa Plum in the middle of the lid with another 239 brush.  The top liner is Ash Violet Fluidline and I used Urban Decay Stray Dog on the bottom.  MAC Plushlash was used as mascara.  All brushes used were made by MAC.

MAC Pigments retail for $20.00 and are currently available for purchase at maccosmetics.com or your local MAC Counters and Stores.  Aurora, Circa Plum, and Nebula are limited edition to the Daphne Guinness December 26, 2011 release.

I purchased Aurora & Nebula with my own funds, Circa Plum was provided by the company
