Guerlain 66 BOULEVARD DU MONTPARNASSE Ecrin 6 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Swatches, Review, and EOTD - Spring 2012

Spring has sprung!  In makeup land, anyway.  It might only be December, but it's not too far away from the Spring 2012 makeup line launches!

The Guerlain 66 Boulevard du Montparnasse Ecrin 6 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette is the first piece from Spring 2012 that I'll be sharing with you.  It's my first 6 Couleurs Palette from Guerlain, and I've always wanted to check these out.  They just always look so majestic and beautiful with the demure shadows, matched with a bold liner and center color.  Let's play.

What the Official Press Release has to say about the Ecrin 6 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette:
Within one case lays 6 eyeshadow colors. The central luminous pink shade is surrounded by pearl mauve, tea rose, soft violet and soft pink, while a liner traces the eyes in an intense plum. Whether you create a tone-on-tone, couture or smoky eye look, the result is captivating.  Moonstone, the key ingredient, adorns the eyes with its silvery reflection and lamellar structure to keep the eyeshadow in place longer for a fresher look.

Boulevard du Montparnasse is a fun melange of purples, mauves and a hit of hot pink.  With so many shades, there are endless possibilities with this palette.  It's a perfect palette to wear to work, and then break it out at quitting time to make your eyes a bit smokier for happy hour, dinner, or a night out.

The shades are swatched pretty heavily above with no primer base.  The easiest to play with, texture wise, are the hot pink and the pale pink.  The other shades have a more satin feel to them.  The hardest shade to use (dry) was the deep purple.  When used wet it's nicely pigmented and VERY easy to line with.

Let's talk packaging.  It's HEAVY, beautiful and convenient.  The square shape isn't too big, and is just thin enough to fit easily in your bag.  It features a mirror and a small brush.  While I'm not usually a fan of small brushes, this one is perfect to transform your look from day-to-night when on the go.

On to the EOTD!  I didn't base the look off of the steps provided with the palette (see a few pics above), but rather just did my own thing, and went with the overall feel of what I wanted to do.  I hope this will give you lots of lemmings ;)

Ok, so I know this palette isn't MEANT to look party city, but I had to add some shimmers lol I just LOVE the colors of this, and since Christmas is on the way, just because this is a SPRING palette doesn't mean I can't do a holiday eye!

For this EOTD I used UDPP as a base and put the pale pink color all over the eye from lash to brow.  Using the purple I applied just above the crease.  I added the bottom mauve shade to the lid (minus inner corner) but it didn't look right with the purple so I blended it overtop of the purple as well.  I had not a clue what to do with the pink shade, so I patted it overtop of the lid and to tone it down patted the lighter mauve on that.  I used the eggplant purple shade to deepen the crease and outer V area.  I then dipped a liner brush in some water and into the same eggplant purple shade to do the upper liner.  I used Chanel Rose Platine under the eye as a base for  the pink shade, to make the eye more festive.  MAC Raven Eye Kohl was used on the lower waterline (this is a discontinued item from awhile ago, but you could use any dark purple).  Benefit They're Real! Mascara was used  to finish off the look.

For giggles, here is what I would deem "work safe" from this palette.  I took it after I added the purple to the above crease.  It's sans liner or mascara and the darker colors, but if you added mascara and the liner it would look awesome for work and would quickly deepen for evening:
