Stila COCONUT CRUSH Lip and Cheek Stain Swatches and Review

Remember the Sephora VIB hat box?  I know a few people that got it.  It was this fun, miniature sized hat box all tied up with a pretty ribbon that contained some awesome sample items.  You just popped in a code with your Sephora order and you got it with your shipment.  I hadn't really paid much attention to trying out the contents of this box, since one of the fragrance samples leaked all through it.  Though it smelled good (and strong) in that box, I didn't really reach for anything in it to play with.  I was sad I lost a nice smelling sample and even more sad that everything else reeked so strongly of the scent.

One of the things in that hat box was a mini sized Stila Lip & Cheek Stain in Coconut Crush.  Yesterday I was just hanging out all day, so I figured, why not?

From the Sephora website:

What it is:
A multi-tasking lip and cheek stain that reacts to pH levels to create a perfectly personalized hue.

What it does:
This revolutionary makeup stain reacts to the pH levels in cheeks and lips to create a personalized blush and pout. The nourishing formula contains potent antioxidants, vitamins A, C, and E to moisturize, and fruit extracts to slow the degeneration of collagen—thus supporting the skin's natural structure and slowing premature aging. Packaged in Stila's iconic clickable pen, the revolutionary sheer formula is easy to build and blend, plus it leaves your lips and cheeks with a fresh flush of youth.
Size: 0.08 oz

Coconut Crush (bronze champagne) turned a pinky bronze flush on my lips and was love at first sight.  This product wore like any other stain, settling on the lips and creating that drying feeling.  Normally, over ANY stain, I put a balm or something, but for this one I wanted to test the wear out, so the above swatch is of Coconut Crush ONLY.

As a cheek color, it didn't really show up on me, which I thought was odd... but I had high hopes for the lips.  The color is perfect, one of the first lip stains that didn't turn some crazy fuchsia color on me.  I wore it a few hours and then ate.  And it was gone.  =( It lasted well through sipping my coffee and smooching my kids, but not through a meal.  The brush DOES make it super easy to apply, but when I use a stain I generally don't want to have to worry about re-application.

The full size Stila Lip & Cheek Stain retails for $24.00 and is available in 7 shades at Sephora, Ulta, and the Stila Website.

The color is beautiful! I actually purchased the full size of this earlier this year when it launched because I absolutely adore the rosey-bronze look it gives! Total hidden gem!
