MAC Marine Life vs MAC Ripe Peach

As some of you may know, I help out the swapping world by being on the the lovely Admin of SwapTawk.

On the boards today someone mentioned they heard Marine Life (To The Beach) and Ripe Peach are dupes. Personally, I don't think they are. I took some photos/swatches so you could all make your own determination.

I will throw my 2 cents out there, dear readers, and let you know that this will more than likely come out in a second wave to counters and the sites. Keep your eyes peeled and save your hard earned money! Do not spend $50 plus on ebay for this blush.

Side note, before we get to the swatches, I had a pre-order of Marine Life bought at Nordies and they oversold the pre-order! However, Nordies felt SO bad they gave me the Marine Life tester for FREE! I didn't even have to ask! The manager was beyond wonderful and the Nordies MAC counter now has a special place in my heart! <3

On to the swatches!

Ripe Peach (LEFT); Marine Life (RIGHT)

Ripe Peach (TOP); Marine Life (BOTTOM)

First Pic is with flash.. second is without

In the pics they look similar. They only photograph about a shade off of each other, but the blurry pic shows the difference a little more. Marine life is much more peachy pink on my fingers than in the photo. Ripe Peach is totally peach on me without a hint of pink at all. I believe Marine Life to be more pigmented as well. The pics were also taken without the overspray on Marine Life, since it was my Nordies tester freebie lol.

FOTD ~ Dior Ready To Glow

The Christian Dior Ready To Glow 5 Colour Irridescent eyeshadow ($58 at Dior Counters or Sephora) is really beautiful. Don't let the product photos fool you! I was NOT impressed with this based off of blogger swatches or the pics on the websites.

From Sephora.com Shades include: grey shimmer, silvery taupe shimmer, bronze, iridescent pale pink shimmer, and iridescent peach shimmer plus two double-ended sponge applicators.

The bronze is unlike any other. It's the main reason I bought the palette. I am the queen of browns and bronze eye shadow and I have nothing like this. They're all smooth and blend like a dream. I've used this quad almost every single day since I've bought it in every way imagineable.

FOTD w/ Dior Ready To Glow

Eyes:
I used the middle bronze color for the outer V and crease, the silvery taupe color for the middle of the lid, and the pink shimmer for the inner corner and the highlight. The grey shimmer was used as a top and bottom liner.
MAC Opulash was the mascara (click pics to enlarge)

Sephora by OPI ~ Rumba Romance

From the Havana Nights Collection ($9 each at Sephora stores or sephora.com) Rumba Romance is a gorgeous Bronze Shimmer. I got a lot of compliments on this one, it's perfect for a summer bronze nail.

This was REALLY my NOTD a week ago and I just took it off yesterday lol but it's a new one from Sephora by OPI and definately beautiful enough to be post worthy! Plus reader and Australian BFF Natalie wanted to see it!

MAC Opulash Review

ok... I did this like a week and a half ago and I'm so sorry I haven't posted before now. We've been taking advantage of some pretty nice weather here (FINALLY) plus my MIL has had to have surgery on her foot so we've been trying to help out there as much as possible. I also have a FOTD to post as well, which will be done seperately. (I also used Opulash in the FOTD).

Since MAC Opulash will be released in stores tomorrow with the To The Beach Collection I wanted to pass on my two cents on the mascara. (FYI I got mine early at Nordstrom because it has been there since April).

Basically... if you love MAC Plushlash... you will REALLY love MAC Opulash. Thank God it's perm. Opulash does the SAME thing as plushlash but it's not as clumpy. It seperates like a dream and lasts all day. (Though I don't believe it's waterproof). The brush area of the wand is quite big, but surprisingly easy to use. I used to be a diehard Plushlash girl but I've moved my loyalty over and am now Opulash for life! If Plushlash gets an A then Opulash gets an A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ and so on!

FYI - I do NOT use an eyelash curler or a mascara primer. Opulash is just THAT good. I've used Plushlash for every other FOTD, so check out previous FOTD's for the comparison!

MAC Stylesetter FOTD

Good morning!

This is my FOTD for April 3. Today I'm enjoying (not) the task of getting out warm weather clothes and putting away the winter stuff. Lot's of laundry, sorting, folding, and putting away. I can't believe how much longer it takes with 2 kids. My son doesn't even have most of his spring/summer wardrobe yet and it's still craziness!!
Later on this afternoon he's going to his cousins Birthday party at the bowling alley. It will be Owen's first time bowling. We're ridiculously excited. I wanted a fun look on my face, but low maintenance:

MAC Purposefully Red FOTD & Wear Test

This was my FOTD for yesterday, April 2. We went to a friends house for a party so of course I had to try out the red lippie. Also, it was a perfect opportunity for a wear test.
I'm on allergy overload so I stuck to soda (pop?) all night. However, I'm happy to report that when I came home my red lipstain was still pretty much there! I did reapply the lipglass once because dry lips drive me batty.

Below is my FOTD, Below Ground was all over the lid and ended up being darker than I wanted with a red lip, so I put patina e/s over it. Below Ground GPS and Black Line PGL stayed in place ALL night. We were outside, sweaty, and gross and this makeup lasted. Very pleased.

Wear Test

This is a 2 hour wear test. I wore this through 3 cups of coffee, a lunch of pasta in butter and oil (ewe not healthy, sorry lol), and the general time of chasing after 2 toddlers.
It did fade a bit.

In this pic it's the stain alone:

In this pic it's the stain with clear lipglass on top:

The nice part about these stains is that I didn't have to wipe off to reapply. Lipstick gets cakey and you have to fix yourself to reapply and get it to look smooth. With the stains I didn't have to do that.

All in all, I do love these stains. These are the best ones I've found by FAR. I'm so excited that I finally have a true red stain that doesn't go Berry colored on me!

MAC Art Supplies

Just WOW.

I never in a million years thought I would love the lipstains from this collection.
I'm going back and buying them all.

First things first. From this collection I picked up:
- Purposefully Red Stain
- Stylesetter Stain
- Greengrease GPS
- Dirty GPS
- Below Ground GPS
- Black Line PGL
- Clear Lipglass (of course)

The Stains:

Amazing. Hands down, just wonderful. They go on the lips nicely, I had absolutely no troubles. I'm still wearing Purposefully Red for my "wear test" but so far so good... though it's only been about 20 minutes lol. I'll update on the wear tonight because I'll post an FOTD (since I'm going out!).
I wiped Stylesetter off with a MAC Bulk Wipe and after a few light rubs it came off easily.
The swatches below are directly on unmoisturized lips. No liner... no gloss... just the fabulous Pro Longwear Lipstain Marker!

STYLESETTER

I'm NOT a pink girl usually... but this one... I like it!

PURPOSEFULLY RED

This is the red I've been searching for all my life... and if it stays on... YAY!

The Greasepaint Sticks:

So smooth and soft! They look gorgeous, and they do not wipe off easily. I really had to scrub with the bulk wipes to get them off. My arm hurt when I was done lol I'm definately going to work one into my evening FOTD. I may get Zinc Zone to add to my collection. Definately need a back up of Below Ground. My FAV!

GREENGREASE, BELOW GROUND, DIRTY

The Pearlglide Liner:

I only got Black Line here. I really don't get into the colors so much and I have a ton of liners. This one is gorgeous and totally backup worthy. It took longer to scrub off than the GPS. I scrubbed HARD and it's still on my arm lol
Below I compared it to a few things that I thought would be similar.. they're really not. Get it while you can!

ORPHEUS KOHL POWER, BLACK KARAT KOHL POWER, BLACK LINE PGL, DIRTY GPS

What did you pick up from this collection? What are your opinions of it???
