Hey peoples! Happy Halloween! I know it's tomorrow, but weekends get hectic so I wanted to post this while I had some time.
Jeff and I rarely ever go out, let alone go to a Halloween party. But this year our neighbors and longtime friends were having one and were enforcing dress code. We dug out the ol' costume box and managed to unearth something presentable. I just went as (as the bag says) a "Divine Witch" and Jeff went as a "Ho Nun". I can't even post pics of his without rating this post with a triple X. Clearly he's a few fries short of a Happy Meal but that's why I married him!
Anyway, I picked the costume I did because I really wanted to vamp up my makeup. I'm usually extremely neutral but JUMP at the chance to bust out my trusty red lipstick.
Here are the results:
The host Tanya (left) and I (right) towards the end of the night
Here are a few looks I did of just when my eyes were done and then my full out face look:
The lips are red enriched cremestick liner with Cockney lipstick (both MAC)
The eyes are Urban Decay Vorpal (silver from AIW BOS), UD Perversion (BOS III), and UD Zero liner. Not gonna lie, I put it right over my makeup from that morning that I posted previously lol I contoured my cheeks with MAC Darkly My Dear blush (SO excited to use that one without having to be careful).
What did you do for Halloween? Did you stay in a cuddle with a scary movie or party it up?? Costume? I wanna hear ALL about it!!!
PS ~ What was your Halloween mani? I didn't have time for anything fun, but I used China Glaze Ick-A-Bod-Y for something seasonal ;)
PPS ~ I put that MAC liner all over my lips and it SURE DID stay on ALL night of me dancing and eating and drinking!!! YAY!

NARS Gina Blush Review & Swatches
Throw out your blushes, people, NARS Gina is an A+!
Let's go back to the beginning. I definately don't NEED more blush. No way. BUT. A girl I CP for wanted me to order NARS Gina blush for her, so I did. When it came I opened it up to make sure it wasn't cracked before I sent it off to her and was taken aback. WOW. It is beautiful! The swatches I saw on the various websites had not done it justice. I raved about it SO much that another girl I CP for wanted to order it as well, so of course I got one for me too ;)
It applies like BUTTER. I was not a fan of NARS blushes before this. Orgasm looked like crap on me and Luster turned to mud. I had given up. Gina is a dream. Smooth, pigmented, flawless. I wish I would have had it before I did my HG post because this definately would have been in there.
Here are some pics, swatches, and a pic of it on my NW25 skin tone.
NARS Gina blush is available at NARScosmetics.com for $26 plus tax. Currently they're offering FREE shipping on ANY purchase. Go take advantage of it!

MAC Sinister Giveaway!
(pics are clickable)
With my first giveaway shipping off to Canada tomorrow I'm a little mixed. I'm so HAPPY to have been given the opportunity to have the giveaway and make someone elses day a little brighter, but I'm SAD because it's over! I've met so many new and amazing people and I don't want it to end!
So, I've decided to have ANOTHER giveaway! It's in honor of my birthday, which is November 13. I'll be 30! The big three oh! Three decades young!
ON TO THE GIVEAWAY!
Pictured below are swatches and pics of MAC Sinister Lipstick. From the Evil Queen part of the Venomous Villains collection, it is a Lustre lippie so it can be worn lightly or deep (as shown below). This lippie is one that anyone can wear and is versitile enough to be used day or night, depending on when you need it and how you layer it. This giveaway is sponsered by ME ;) because I accidently purchased an extra one at Nordies when I picked up my VV haul.

If You HAD To....
What if you HAD to pare down your stash. Your stash of ANYthing. What do you collect? For me, it's makeup. I find all makeup that I own extremely hard to part with. Whether it be because of the packaging, colors... I can justify why I absolutely NEED to keep it. Some people are like this with shoes, clothes, purses, stamps...(?) - for me.... I get a MAJOR thrill when I can haul some new makeup.
You may hate it when MAC has 4 collections a month, but for me, that is FOUR new hauls. It's a drug, and it's addicting.
Currently, I'm far from a hoarder. Financially I can't afford to be. If funding were unlimited, we'd have a problem.
This weekend I challenged myself. What if I HAD to pare down my makeup? What the heck would I do? Surprisingly, it wasn't as hard to choose as what I thought.
I ended up with my usual HG items as well as a few surprises.
FACE:
L'Oreal Magic Perfecting Base
MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer NW25
MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation NW25
Lancome Duel Finish Powder in Matte Bisque II
MAC Stereo Rose MSF
Chanel Nude Joues Contraste Blush
Dior DiorBlush in Rosebud 939
The biggest surprise for me out of the face products was the Dior blush. The tester was given to me by a friend and it's quickly become one that I reach for daily. Initially it was WAY to dark, but when I started to dab it on and blend it came out beautifully... my perfect fall cheek color! I use the Stereo Rose a lot more in the Summer and the Chanel Nude JC just matches everything, so I use it quite a bit too. You may notice the Chanel blush is also a tester. I bought that off of ebay for $20 as opposed to the $42 it costs at the counter. Plus now it's discontinued (yes I do have a backup!) so imagine how much people would want for it?!
EYES:
Urban Decay Naked Palette
Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in RSVP
MAC Groundwork Paint Pot
Urban Decay Primer Potion
MUFE Aqua Eyes 24L
MAC Teddy Eye Kohl
MAC Orpheus Kohl Power
Dior Waterproof Eye Pencil in Black
Dior DiorShow Brow Styler
MAC Clear Brow Gel
MAC Plushlash Mascara in PlushBlack
Obviously the UD Naked Palette is the perfect pick. You can go neutral and light or dark and smoky. It's so versitile there is no wonder they can't keep it in stock! The Benefit RSVP was a surprise. It came in a 500pt Sephora perk. It's totally a fav. MAC Bare Study is similar and when the Benefit runs out I'll probably purchase the MAC dupe. MAC Groundwork, you can literally sweep this on your lids and go. It's perfect for when you need to RUN out the door. Mom's are you hearing me? You need this. You can put it on with your finger. Perfect. I have 4 liners on there. Couldn't decide what to part with. The MUFE is awesome for those quick days. It's a light taupe so hard to mess up but it REALLY makes your eyes look big and bright. MAC Teddy has and always will be my HG liner. MAC Orpheus is perfect for those days that you need a blackish eye liner with your look, but don't want the harshness of a true black. The Dior was the surprise. I got it in my Diva gift and I reach for it at least twice a week. Never before have I loved a true black liner like this. It's super smooth and LASTS. The Dior brow styler actually tones itself toward your hair color, so it's a near perfect match for everyone. Extremely easy to use and doesn't need sharpened. I'm sold and already have a backup waiting in the wings. MAC Plushlash has been a love of mine for quite sometime. FINALLY I find a mascara to love that does everything I need it to do. Dior Extase is a close second, but because of cost I opted for the Plushlash.
LIPS:
MAC Brave New Bronze Lipstick
MAC Dressmaker, Dressmaker Lipstick
MAC Patisserie Lipstick
MAC Bendel Girl Lipglass
MAC Frankly Fresh Lipglass
NARS Dolce Vita Lipglass
MAC Subculture Lipliner
The lippies are all LE. Of course. I do have a backup of Brave New Bronze. Dressmaker I tend to reach for mostly for Spring/Summer so I'll be ok there for awhile. Patisserie was a surprise. I absolutely adore it and it's getting LOW. No backup. Come on MAC.... bring that one back for me! The MAC Lipglasses are also LE. Bendel Girl is my absolute all time favorite. I use it sparingly because it was LE for Henri Bendel stores ONLY. UGH! MAC Light That Fire! is a close dupe, so I do have that on stand by. NARS Dolce Vita was a HUGE surprise. NARS and I have a love/hate relationship. All of these items that they say "work for everyone" never work for me. (Such as Orgasm blush, Dolce Vita Lipstick...) I got this gloss as a sample with a NARS order and it's been in my makeup bag ever since. I will definately buy the full size once it runs out, which will probably be soon. MAC Subculture lipliner has been a staple for YEARS and was one of the first MAC items I ever bought. It is a nice match for my lips and pretty much goes with everything.
Since doing this... it's really making me rethink things. Do I REALLY need all of this (see pics below)? (underneath those blushes are 2 MAC Palettes of e/s plus a lot of blush and more shadows on the sides there lol PLUS 2 UD palettes, AIW and BOS III)
I could totally sell it on LJ and make a nice little bundle. It'd be so much easier to get ready in the morning. Just grab a makeup bag and head for the mirror instead of opening that huge, deep, tiered case and agonizing over the perfect color.
Who am I kidding... I'd take that nice little bundle and totally buy more makeup.

Flashback Friday
I've been missing from the past few Flashback Fridays =( I would always think I need to do that, and then the day would get away from me and it wouldn't happen.
This Friday I'm BACK with the crazy things husbands do.
Last year we got one of those white heat stains on our cherry wood table. Jeff looked up on YouTube (which is such an authority on furniture, right?) how to remove this and saw that you could goop peanut butter on it and it'll come off. Obviously this sounds ridiculous so I had to take pics. It does NOT work. Repeat, do not try this at home.
Enlarge the pics for the full on effect. Warning - I'm gonna be honest, these pics are extremely disgusting. So if you're eating... put the burger down.
Attempt #1
Attempt #2
As you can see... still there
At least we got a good laugh!
Join in the Flashback Friday fun at Christopher and Tia!

Gymboree Haulage
Inspired by Emily at Wife Check, Mom Check, Now What - I took the late coming $25 in Gymbucks that I had and shopped the Gymboree sale. It's addicting, I tell you.
Here is the haul:
The 2 tee-shirts are from the Poppy Love line. In hindsight, if I wanted to emulate Emily, I should have bought them in a 2T so Lydia could get some wear out of them next year as well. (that sizing issue is my only regret!)
The long sleeved white onesie is so she can get some more wear out of her t-shirts and dresses this Fall and maybe winter.
The green top and leggings set is from the Cowgirls At Heart line. Totally cute.
The entire haul came to $28.21 (or roughly $5.64 a piece). Pretty good for me! Normally I get side tracked by the full priced shinies and end up REALLY blowing $$ on stuff that will be on sale in a month lol
I owe it all to Emily ;) However. haha always a BUT. I loved that Poppy Love line SO much that I bought a couple more things on evil-bay. Some were bought with Buy It Now and weren't full price retail, but some I sniped last minute and got for a pretty good deal. I'm still in search of the matching black with white polka dot shoes in a size 5. It's like looking for a Unicorn! =\

The Versatile Blogger Award!!
Emily over at Wife Check, Mom Check, Now What? has passed on an awesome blogger award to BlushingNoir! The Versatile Blogger Award!
The rules for this blog award include listing 7 things about yourself and tagging 12 fellow bloggers. Tagging 12 bloggers... it's a lot. Emily did 3 so imma keep with my senior tagger.
First here are the seven facts about me:
1. I moved around (for my dad's job) to 6 houses before settling in New Kensington, PA during the summer of 1989.
2. I met my husband in a beer distributor during the summer of 2003. We had a mutual friend working there who hooked us up with free beer (and me free cigarettes). Classy.
3. Tequila makes hubby a little bit crazy so he gave it up, and I gave up cigarettes, also in 2003. Best decisions ever.
4. I scrapbook. I love it so much I even became a rep for Creative Memories! The addiction becomes worse the more you're around it.
5. I didn't ALWAYS love makeup. I literally had next to nothing a few years ago when I used to sell MAC on ebay. I never used it. I tried it one day and never went back. Obviously I had to stop selling it though, having that much product on hand (for an addict) is just a recipe for disaster and bankruptcy.
6. I just learned to snap my fingers this past year.
7. I have a passion for the theatre. I did some acting in high school, in college, and a bit after and wish I had the time/money to persue it a little better.
Ok so here I go on my tagging!
1. GINGERKITTY DESIGNS - Tracey is the most talented artist that I know, and also the sponser of my current GIVEAWAY!!!! Click HERE to check that out!
2. MAGIC MAID - Obviously you all know by now that I love Nicole and her site is one of my daily addictions.
3. BIRDS DECORATE BRANCHES - Emma does some awesome looks, I've always been totally jealous of her eye balls!

MAC Venomous Villains Lipglass Swatches
Yay I'm getting around to finishing up the swatches of Venomous Villains! LOL
Actually, this IS the end of the VV swatches. I'll provide a link at the bottom of this post so that you can reference back to the other posts.
The lipglasses that I picked up from this collection are (L-R in the pic) Revenge Is Sweet, Devilishly Stylish, and Strange Potion.
(top to bottom: Revenge Is Sweet, Devilishly Stylish, and Strange Potion)
Revenge Is Sweet (Maleficent) ~ NOT purple like it is in the tube. I actually enjoyed the color of this one and it's proving to be very versitile. It's pretty alone and also over Innocence, Beware lippie from Cruella.
Lipglasses have always been extremely sticky, but with RIS it seemed even MORE so. It's not as noticeable if you wear it over a lippie, but alone it was almost unbearable. And I don't usually feel that way about sticky glosses.
I've also noticed with this one, that it wasn't full. I had them sitting straight up for awhile after I took the photos (too lazy to put it away) and noticed that even though I've only used it twice it was missing around 10% already! I heard that the polishes were like that (and I can confirm that my Bad Fairy was) but I didn't know the lipglasses were too. The other 2 that I purchased didn't seem to be that way.
Devilishly Stylish (Cruella De Vil) ~ Very pretty over it's buddy, Innocence Beware! - also from Cruella. Alone it's nice as well but tends to get goopy in the corners... like you have to consciously remember to check for pools of spit clumps *so gross* so that people aren't staring at you like you're an alien.
Strange Potion (Evil Queen) ~ I adore anything corally. This is an A+ in my book.... pretty enough to wear alone and over just about anything. It's my fav lip product from this collection.
The lipglosses are pretty much sold out. I had to track down a Revenge Is Sweet for someone and was able to at my local MAC. So call around to your local stores and even go cross country! Macy's will ship for $5.95 and Nordies will ship for FREE. Make sure you ask - it's not available online anymore, so they should. Keep in mind these glosses retail for $15.50 plus tax, which is a dollar more than the regular MAC lipglass.

MAC Oh So Fair Beauty Powder Swatches & Review
(pics are clickable)
As a little giftie from one of my favs I received an Oh So Fair Beauty Powder from MAC Venomous Villains Evil Queen line. It didn't have the box, so I don't have a shot of that for you, but the color is the important part, right?! ;)
I'm NW25 (in MAC) and I really had to work to get this to show up on me. I've read that NC/NW10 girls like to use it for a blush, but for me it just gives a nice glow unless I really dig and layer. The color is gorgeous, but I definately wouldn't have bought this one for myself.
The MAC Venomous Villains Beauty Powders retail for $25.00, and sold out, but may still be available if you call around or check the sites for restocks!

MAC Bad Fairy Swatches & Review
Finally I got around to doing my nails. Seriously, they're looking rough. I have had nothing on them since the last time I posted a NOTD. I'm a reformed biter and sometimes things get the best of me. The length is starting to get back on track, but the shame is still there =(
Anyway, I've been dying to try MAC Bad Fairy from the Maleficent collection of Venomous Villains. It is a mish mash of red, pink, copper, gold, orange... you really can't tell from my pics, it's hard to pick up the duochrome, but it's definately one of a kind. Even MORE gorgeous in the light.
This is with 3 coats plus a bottom and a top coat.
And DON'T FORGET to enter my first GIVEAWAY featuring a bracelet from GingerKitty Designs!!!

Interview and GIVEAWAY with GingerKitty Designs
(pics are clickable)
I was going to wait until I hit 100 followers to do a giveaway, but this is just really too good to wait on. It's basically "burning a hole in my pocket", as my mom would say. I was never patient ;)
Ladies and gents, I bring you my very FIRST giveaway! This giveaway is sponsered by Tracey over at GingerKitty Designs!
Tracey specializes in making jewelry out of nail polish. Yes, you read that correctly... JEWELRY out of nail polish! Your favorite shades are now wearable somewhere other than your tips and toes! She will also CUSTOMIZE anything you want.
What started out as a store on Etsy, making custom orders for swapping and for gifts has turned into something ginormous! It's gone INTERNATIONAL even! Tracey's goodies are sold overseas in specialty shops and she has individual customers from all over the world. She has also been featured in NAILS Magazine!
For over a year I've been wearing Tracey's designs. I'm a TOTAL brand snob and up until I started wearing pieces from GingerKitty Designs I only wore Tiffany, and my engagement/wedding ring. I'd like to share with you some pics of a few pieces that Tracey has made for me.
First came the customized "Mommy" bracelet. When I was pregnant with Lydia I wanted a piece of jewelry to represent my kids that was casual enough to wear with anything. Tracey designed this beautiful bracelet for me, with the colored beads representing the kids birthstones. (and even sent along some matching earrings!)
Next is a ring, I believe made from Essie Starry Starry Night. Totally gorgeous and shimmery. I love love love wearing this one.
Finally, another of my FAVORITE pieces, is a necklace. I saw this on one of her icon pics and HAD to have it. I'm actually wearing it right now as I type. The length is perfect and the colors were exactly what I was looking for.
I got the opportunity to interview the mastermind (aka Tracey!) behind GingerKitty Designs. Below are my questions (in bold) and her answers (in italic):
Tell us a little about yourself (and life!) and also how you got into making jewelry.
"My name is Tracey Barker and I am located in Warwick, Rhode Island, where I have lived almost all of my life. I work in finance during the day and design my jewelry at night. I am the mother of two beautiful boys Ryan and Dylan - and my husband and I have been married for 12 years and counting.
Originally I decided to learn how to make jewelry as a way to hand-craft Christmas presents for my boys school teachers and daycare providers. I then moved on to creating MAC necklaces from recycled MAC boxes. I had always wanted a MAC necklace of my own...so I made one!
Then I set out to combine my love (obsession) for nail polish and jewelry design into one. Once I created the nail polish jewelry line, I started to branch out and my line now consists of rings, earrings, necklaces. The most recent addition to my line are bracelet and next week I will launch my nail polish bottle charm that I was able to design myself :0)"
Do you have any free time? LOL How do you use it?
"LOL, not really! Between my day job, my jewelry line and being a mom...there is not much free time to be had. When I have a free moment I usually spend it curled up with a good book or with my friends for a girls night out."
Where did the idea come from to turn nail polish into wearable art?
"I was giving myself a manicure one day, before going to a party with my husband and I keep thinking, “what jewelry am I going to wear with this outfit?” I kept thinking, “I wish I had jewelry to match this amazing nail polish I was applying and then I thought hmmmmm. The next day I started on my quest of using nail polish as a medium for making jewelry.
Most people do not know that the idea almost did not happen, originally the idea failed miserably. Nail polish reacts very strangely to any chemical and after many attempts I scraped the idea and put the project aside. Luckily I picked it backed up, realized my mistake and carried on with the idea."
What is the inspiration behind your designs?
"Lately I find myself looking at fabrics, colors in nature, magazine covers, fashion and of course new collections of nail polish for inspiration. I received a "Pucci inspired" scarf that I love and I could not wait to make a piece of jewelry that had similiar colors in it.
I find inspiration and ideas all around me...if you see me staring at your shirt or scarf it is probably because I am thinking of color combinations for future jewelry pieces LOL"
Where do you see your jewelry creations taking you in 5 years? 10 years?
"My ultimate goal would be to design jewelry full time. I have so many ideas but not nearly enough time to be able to make them come to fruition.
I would love to see my pieces being worn on the cover of a magazine to accentuate a wonderful manicure or outfit, to be being worn by a famous celebrity and have my unique line carried in stores and salons worldwide.
I have strayed away from making traditional jewelry and I would like to get back into that again as well."
Tell us about the piece you've designed for this giveaway.
"Many of my customers have been asking for an alternative to nail polish rings or necklaces and I was finally able to come with a new option....bracelets! When I set out to design a bracelet for your giveaway, I had just watch a show on TV and one of the girls wore a black and white zebra shirt - it was the perfect color palette for a bracelet.
I used CND Blackjack, Orly Shine and L'Oreal Oracle Holographic to swirl in a design for the bracelet for your giveaway. I love the way the holo color shimmers in the black and silver, it really picks up the silver in the bracelet".
