OPI Holland Collection for Spring/Summer 2012 Product Information and Photos

Color with a Touch of Dutch

OPI Launches Holland Collection for Spring/Summer 2012

OPI celebrates color with the Holland Collection for Spring/Summer 2012. Inspired by the country’s range of stunning shades – as seen in vivid tulips, windmill-dotted hillsides and bustling canals – the collection’s twelve shades offer a mixture of sophisticated neutrals and highly-pigmented brights.
“Holland has a very unique, vibrant beauty to match its open-minded nature,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.  “Spring is the season of color, and the Holland Collection provides an array of pink, coral and orange hues that capture this energy. The bright lacquers are married with neutrals in new variations like red clay and sea green.”
A sequence of electric brights, including a sun-lit orange (A Roll in The Hague), a hot coral-red (Red Lights Ahead…Where?) and two perfectly pretty pinks (Kiss Me on My Tulips and a light-catching Pedal Faster Suzi!) complement their cooler counterparts in hues of glistening purple (Dutch Ya Just Love OPI? and Vampsterdam), while elegant neutrals (Gouda Gouda Two Shoes, Did You ear About Van Gogh? and Wooden Shoe Like to Know?) meet two shimmer-laced blues (I Have a Herring Problem and I Don’t Give a Rotterdam!) and a creamy sea green (Thanks a WindMillion).
“Wearing these colors on fingers and toes will accessorize the season’s hottest trends,” remarks Suzi. “The varied palette of colors accentuates the looks that walked the runway, from colored pants and ladylike frocks to long, blousy-sleeved tops and dramatic patterns.”
Holland by OPI includes the following shades:

China Glaze MIDTOWN MAGIC Nail Polish Swatches, Review, and Comparison - Metro Collection

I thought that bringing you China Glaze Midtown Magic today would be appropriate since it's Halloween!!  I had also planned on doing Ghoulish Glow on top of this, but it does not glow on my nails lol I have NO idea why, and I've tried it in a variety of ways.  The bottle glows, but not the nails... Maybe I got a bum bottle?  Any tips?

In any event, Midtown Magic has a vampy aubergine base with lots of glittery copper and red dominated flecks of color.  This polish applies so well and remains consistent with the high quality that we're familiar with in China Glaze polishes.  I used 2 coats for the swatch photos.

Comparison time!  On my stroll around the interwebs I came across blogs mentioning that Midtown Magic reminded them of Dior Czarina Gold.  I own both, why not a comparison!?

(middle finger - Dior Czarina Gold, ring finger - CG Midtown Magic, pinkie finger - L'Oreal Owl's Night)

As you can see they look nothing alike.  Not even in the same color family.  I'm pretty sure I don't need to break it down for you... but just in case you were curious like I was, there you go.

China Glaze Midtown Magic released for Fall 2011 as part of the Metro Collection (Downtown).  China Glaze polishes retail price can vary, but the most I've seen them for is $6.99 each.

L'Oreal AUDACIOUS AMAZON'S BLUSH Super Blendable Blush Swatches and Review - Project Runway

Yes!  I have more L'Oreal Project Runway for you!!  I had hoped to post these sooner, but with my sons birthday and Halloween it just hasn't happened.  So, for today, I bring you L'Oreal Audacious Amazon's Super Blendable Blush 625.

I actually got Audacious Amazon's Blush to apply on my cheeks much better than I anticipated based off of the blended out swatch on my arm (right swatch).  I expected this soft golden bronze to really need to be layered to get any sort of pigment, but in fact I only had to apply 2 times to achieve the color I was after.  As with the other two blushes I've swatches and reviewed, this blush blends like a dream and applies better than most other blushes that are WAY more expensive.

The L'Oreal Project Runway Blushes retail for $9.99. They should be available pretty much everywhere L'Oreal is sold this month. Keep your eyes peeled and grab it if you can. There is not much room on the display for product, and this collection is Limited Edition! (I've been checking my Rite-Aid every time I go in and they are not sold out of anything except a few of the polishes, however they have them down SUPER LOW and you have to LOOK for them.  My CVS still doesn't have this so I don't imagine they'll be getting it.  Has anyone seen this collection at CVS?)

Happy Halloween from Zoya Nail Polish!

Witches, vampires, skeletons and ghosts. Sexy pirates, french maids & haunted house hosts. We have your color, 300 at that; this Halloween Zoya's where it at!

Colors featured in this Happy Halloween Nail Polish video are Zoya Raven (black nail polish) and Zoya Tanzy (orange nail polish).

Zoya is the new color of Fashion!

Pumpkin Nail Enamel Halloween Mani

A while ago while trying to hunt down the Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers polishes I stumbled upon these Pumpkin Nail Enamel Nail Polishes at Rite-Aid.  They have no individual color names, but they were displayed in a variety of colors ranging from the usual Glow In The Dark to Pink, Blue and  the two I have to show you today.

First, let's talk about the Pumpkin Nail Enamel on the right.  It is REALLY cool.  A clear base with holo glitters of your usual chunk, shapes, and also moons!  You had to maneuver and play around a bit, which made it a little thick in some areas, but the polish itself looked rather cool.  I don't normally like to have to WORK to get a mani looking nifty, but a holiday is a special occasion and definitely worth it!

Here is it over Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers Creepy Pumpkin:

Now for the shade of Pumpkin Nail Enamel on the right.  It looks as though this would be more opaque, but it's not.  The base of this is clear and not as many orange glitters will apply as you would think based off of looking at the bottle.

I put this polish over Deborah Lippmann Brick House:

As you can see from the close up, it deposited hexagonal glitters as well as bar glitter.  This was 2 coats and I had to maneuver this one as well to appear as even as possible.

For fun, I put the other Pumpkin Nail Enamel over the orange one and got a pretty neat little Halloween mani!!

What did you all do for a Halloween mani?  I know we have some awesome nail artists out there and I'd love to see your looks!

Halloween 2011 FOTD

We're not really doing anything costumey this year for Halloween.  Our friends are having a party tonight at their house and it's not dress up, but I still thought it would be fun to do something with my makeup.... Because, let's be honest, when can you ever vamp up your face, go out in public, and it's okay.

For this look I basically just went dark and vampy.  Witchy yet sultry.  Enjoy!

For this look I used:
~ MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer NW25
~ Lancome Dual Finish Powder Matte Bisque II
~ Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation in BR42
~ Dior DiorShow Brow Styler
~ MAC Brow Set - Clear
~ MAC False Lashes Mascara - Extreme Black
~ Tarte Eye Primer
~ Tarte for True Blood Palette - V, Telepath, Legend, The True Death
~ Urban Decay Perversion 24/7 Liquid Eyeliner
~ Dior Eye Liner in Trinidad Black (bottom)
~ MAC Prim and Proper Blush
~ MAC Staunchly Stylish Pro Longwear Lip Pencil
~ MAC Dark As Night Pro Longwear Lipglass

For this EOTD I used the Tarte Eye Primer that came with the True Blood Palette.  Then (also from the Tarte for True Blood Palette) applied Telepath from lid to brow. Second, I applied Legend in the crease. Then I took V and applied it all over the lid. I took a bit more of Telepath and applied it to the inner corners.  Using The True Death I added a line of the silver under the eye to brighten the look.  For an eyeliner I used Dior Trinidad Black Eye Liner on the bottom waterline and Urban Decay Perversion 24/7 Liquid Eye Liner on the top.  I used the MAC False Lashes Mascara in Extreme Black on the lashes to complete the eye look.

I'm taking the kids Trick or Treating tonight just quickly up and down our street (since they went last night too lol) then going to a party.  I hope you all have a happy and safe holiday.  Don't eat any opened candy or talk to strangers ;)

Burberry NUDE ROSE Lipstick Swatches and Review

I have been DYING to try out Burberry's makeup line since it came out.  With it not being available locally for me to see in person, that's been extremely difficult.  There are SO many great products with well known names behind them, that it's hard to bite the bullet and buy from a new beauty brand that isn't available with testers at your local counter.  Hopefully, in the future, Burberry Beauty can take off and be available at my local Nordstrom too ;)

My first ever product from Burberry Beauty is the Nude Rose (no. 25) Lip Cover Soft Satin Lipstick.

Nude Rose as a shade is pretty true to it's name.  It's a beige pinky rose shade that glides on with ease.  This lipstick is uber creamy and wears very, very well.  I've heard a few negative comments about the scent, but I don't really smell anything.  There is a slight hint of a scent, but it's barely noticeable.  I actually forgot about it having a scent until a friend asked me what I thought about it.  Unless you're extremely sensitive to smells, you should be ok in that department.

The packaging is nice, though I did expect it to be a bit heavier, like Guerlain.  I love the pattern on the casing as well as on the lipstick bullet.  The case closes magnetically, so you have to make sure you have it on there just right for it to shut.  I wasn't a fan of  that at first, but now I kind of like it.

I definitely look forward to purchasing more from the Burberry Beauty line, after I stalk some online swatches, of course ;)

Burberry Lip Cover Soft Satin Lipstick retails for $30.00 and you can pick this up at Nordstrom.com.

I received this lipstick as an early birthday present from one of my international girls that I CP for.  I just thought that should be disclosed since I didn't purchase this myself ;)  Thank you, Julia!!

Deborah Lippmann BRICK HOUSE Nail Polish Swatches and Review

I haven't been having the best luck lately with Lippmann polishes, I have no idea why, but none of them have been great on me wear wise.  Brick House, however, is changing all of that!

I was really impressed with the application and wear of Brick House.  It wasn't as streaky as I anticipated from seeing other swatches and the color is just divine.  It's a burnt orange-red, terracotta brick frosty deal.  Very pretty for Fall!  Though, with the amount of SNOW we have outside, who would even know it's Fall... *le sigh*.  For the swatch photo I used 2 coats of polish, though it was opaque on me in ONE.

Deborah Lippmann Brick House Nail Lacquer retails for $16 and is available at Neiman Marcus, and Nordstrom.

MAC False Lashes Extreme Black Mascara Review and Photos

The original MAC False Lashes is one of my FAVORITE mascaras, even though I didn't like it at first, it grew on me (though not for a False Lash look, as more of a neutral look).  I reviewed it here.  So of course, when MAC released another version, EXTREME BLACK, it immediately went on my wish list!

Where I didn't think the original False Lashes really made me look like I had false lashes on, I think Extreme Black does!  I didn't use an eye lash curler for the picture above, and I thought this mascara lengthened and curled phenomenally.  It's more expensive than MAC's other mascaras (like my other fave, Plushlash), and it truly doesn't NEED to be... but it's still cheaper than other high end brands out there that don't perform as well.  (Guerlain Les Verts was used in the eye look with Extreme Black).

MAC False Lashes Mascara - Extreme Black retails for $19.00 and is available at your local MAC counter or store as well as at maccosmetics.com.  Check out the official press release for more information.

I received this mascara as an early birthday present from one of my international girls that I CP for.  I just thought that should be disclosed since I didn't purchase this myself ;)  Thank you, Julia!!
